Sara's Porch is a restaurant previously located in Darlington, SC.
I was approached by them in 2018 to create a logo for their restaurant, commemorating the family that had previously owned the restaurant.
The restaurant was previously owned by the current owners in-laws, and Sara was her Mother-in-Law that was very well known for sporting bright red/orange hair.
When creating their logo, they wanted something that felt very southern and homemade. I chose to use hand drawn script in their logo and used other hand drawn illustrative elements like the flowers to make the logo feel more delicate.
Dark grey was going to be used a lot in their dining room, and I chose to use pops of red/orange to bring the color of Ms. Sara's hair.

A shortened, abbreviated version of the logo
I knew that I was creating an emblem for their logo, so it would be able to be used in many different ways. I then decided to try out many, many, many different ways to write out Sara's Porch. When I decided on using the script I tried out different designs inside the emblem to accent the typography, eventually deciding on the florals that I used.
